FEES takes less than twenty minutes to complete and neither radiation nor barium are required. It can provide immediate feedback and education to multiple caregivers/staff at one time. FEES does not require travel for the patient or high costs.

Modified Barium Swallow Studies (MBS) are performed in a videofluroscopy suite in a hospital involving a radiology technician, SLP and radiologist. The MBSS study time is limited to reduce the amount of radiation exposure. Patients will have to travel.
